7 Simple Habits for Inner Wellness

We are going through a difficult time. Pandemic and lockdowns have resulted in many different issues for people. Apart from physical health, people are also suffering from economic and mental health issues due to isolation, job losses and fear of illness.

Pandemic has brought back the focus on some pillars of health and happiness that were practiced and preached by our grand parents. Some of the positive side-effects of pandemic are:

  • People started eating home-cooked simple meals together with their family
  • People became more aware about overall hygiene
  • People realized the value of immunity in keeping us healthy
  • The air we breathe became cleaner
  • People found time to think about their inner abilities and motivation

Here are 7 simple habits that you can cultivate to improve your inner wellness and improve your overall immunity.

  1. Start your day right – be thankful for a fresh new day, eat soaked nuts (almonds/apricots) before having tea or coffee.
  2. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables (local and seasonal) during the day – keep at least 35-50% of your daily food intake in raw form.
  3. Do varied exercises. Focus on building strength. Rotate your exercises. Do cardio workouts. Warm up and stretch.
  4. Drink plenty of water (at least 2 liters per day)
  5. Avoid sugary and processed food. Eat complex carbohydrates, protein, healthy fats and soluble fibers.
  6. Meditate at least 15 minutes every day. Take deep breaths whenever you can. Include Yoga and Pranayama in your workout routine.
