
Benefits Of Eating Raw Until Lunch
Good Nutrition is a fundamental requirement for positive health, functional efficiency and productivity.
During my life change journey, one life style change that I was advised was to eat “Raw Until Lunch” for designated weeks or days. As a beginner it was not possible for me to eat raw food, but eventually when I got used to it, I realized significant benefits and a positive impact on my health.
Raw until lunch is very good for your digestive system as well as your digestion and absorption process. Raw foods are detoxifying in nature. They help your body to remove toxins out and lose fat. When you have raw food on an empty stomach, the absorption of nutrition is efficient.
When you wake up and drink water it flushes out toxins from the body. Start your day with any seasonal fruit which activates your metabolism. Moreover, fruits are excellent pre-workout meals too. (For e.g. Banana is a good option for pre-workout because potassium in Banana is good for your heart health and blood pressure). You can accompany fruit with some nuts (e.g. soaked almonds, apricots etc.) and seeds.
Don’t eat fruits after meal because our body uses different enzymes for digesting raw food and cooked food. You can have fruit first thing in the morning but if you are diabetic, do as per your doctor’s advise.
Chew your food properly because digestion process starts from your mouth. Chewing properly also helps in lowering sweet craving. Avoid having fruit in juice form because it has Sucrose which directly gets converted into sugar and increase the risk of sugar spike. Eat raw fruits as much as you can for a boost in your energy levels.
In vegetables you can have sprouts salad, veg juices, veg salad till lunch. Raw food is rich in fiber content and helps in fat loss too. Eating salad 30 minutes before lunch is a great way to control sugar spike, because fiber in your salad helps in gradual sugar absorption.
Lifestyle modification is very important. In the beginning you may feel hungry because your body may be used to heavy and cooked breakfast, but slowly and gradually your body will accept this modification so don’t be in a hurry!
In our ideal plate, 50% of our diet should comprise of raw food and eating raw until lunch is a great way to ensure that. According to the recent report by Lancet, eating plant based and raw diet is also good for our farmers and our ecology. It is a sustainable food habit that has health and environmental benefits.
When you start Raw until Lunch don’t expect it to deliver results immediately. Depending on your body type, you can eat raw till lunch for one to two weeks in a month.
It is a very good lifestyle change, eat mindfully, enjoy every meal and DON’T do it for weight loss purpose. Do it because its nourishing for your overall health.
